Taktum

Setlists and charts for cover bands, without the bloat

Taktum is a fast, modern setlist app for cover and party bands. Build the set, open the gig view, play. It runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or laptop, and you can add it to your home screen.

Shenandoah

Traditional

Capo 2, shapes in

Oh Shenandoah, I long to hear you,

Away, you rolling river.

Oh Shenandoah, I long to hear you,

Away, I’m bound away

’Cross the wide Missouri.

Capo2
The band’s chart stays in

A Saturday gig needs four things.

Songs in the right key. A setlist in the right order. A chart you can read at a glance. And nothing that gets in the way while you’re playing.

Some bands need a whole suite around that: contacts, rosters, sheet music, backing tracks. If that’s you, there are good tools for it. A cover or party band usually needs the four things above, fast, on whatever device each person has.

Taktum does those four things and stops.

What we left out on purpose

  • No PDF charts or sheet music. Taktum is chords and lyrics.
  • No audio, backing tracks, MIDI or metronome.
  • No gig booking, calendar or payments. A setlist has a date, a time and a venue, and that’s it.
  • No built-in AI. If you want an assistant, you bring your own.
  • No live co-editing. If a bandmate saved first, you choose which version to keep.

Less to learn. Less to scroll past. More time on the song.

Built for the stage, not the desk.

Open a setlist, open the gig view, and you get one song at a time, full screen, sized so no line wraps.

No layout setup. Fits every screen.
There’s no layout editor, because you don’t need one. The gig view steps the text size down until no line wraps, and refits when you rotate the device or resize the window. On a landscape tablet or laptop, a song that fits goes into two columns. Pick Stage (dark, yellow chords) or Daylight, set your text size, and play. The screen stays awake.
Auto-scroll paced by the chart
Auto-scroll runs over the song’s length, or a scroll time you’ve saved, and gives each line its share by bar count. Repeats get more time, chord-only and bar rows hold, and nothing moves during the intro. The current line stays about a third of the way down the screen. Nudge it by 5 seconds on stage, and band members can save the nudge for everyone.
Capo mode: everyone plays their own shapes
Set your own capo or transpose per song, and Taktum shows your shapes, for example “Capo 3, shapes in E”. The band chart stays in the concert key and nobody else’s view changes. The next-song card shows your shapes too. It’s saved on your device and works without signal.
Chained songs, and knowing what’s next
Group songs into segments and link the ones you play without stopping. The gig view shows “No stop, into …” with your short transition note, and an end-of-set card tells everyone what comes after the break, for example “End of set 1. Break, 15:00. Next: Blue Bayou in Bm, capo off.”
Turn pages hands-free
Swipe, tap the edge, or use a page-turner pedal that sends Page Up/Down, Space or arrow keys.

No stop, into Shenandoah

Drums count it in.

End of set 1. Break, 15:00

Next: Blue Bayou in , capo off.

Your gigs work without signal

Taktum keeps a copy of your setlists on each device. The gig view opens and pages through the set with no connection, and shows when the copy was last updated. Editing needs a connection.

Charts that are quick to fix.

Paste a chart from the web and Taktum turns it into a clean, editable song. Then fix it where it’s wrong.

A visual chord editor
Type [ and pick a chord, with suggestions based on the song’s key. Click above a syllable to place a chord, and drag to move it. Prefer text? Switch to the ChordPro source.
Bar grids for intros and solos
Write the bars between pipes and get a proper bar grid.| G . . . | C . . . |
Clean up chart
A one-click tidy-up with a side-by-side preview before anything changes. It’s rule-based, so it does the same thing every time.
Safe key changes
Changing the key label only relabels. Rewriting the chords takes an explicit “Change key” step. Your personal capo and transpose never touch the shared chart.
History and undo
Every editing session is saved as a version, with who changed it and from where. Compare and restore any version.
No silent overwrites
If a bandmate saved while you were editing, you choose which version to keep.
Built to be quick
Instant search across title, artist, tags and lyrics. A command palette for songs, setlists and actions. Moving between pages is tested to take under 300 ms.

Edit your repertoire by asking.

Taktum has no AI of its own. Instead it opens a door for the assistant you already use. Connect Claude to your band’s library and ask it to do the tedious parts: build a setlist for two 45-minute sets with a 15-minute break, move a song down a tone, tidy a pasted chart.

To connect, add a custom connector in Claude with https://taktum.app/api/mcp, sign in to Taktum and choose your bands.

  • “Build a two-set setlist for Saturday from our songs, 45 minutes each, with a 15-minute break.”
  • “Move ‘Valerie’ down a tone.” (This changes the band’s key for everyone.)
  • “Clean up the chart I just pasted for ‘Mr. Brightside’.”
Examples. Results depend on your assistant.

You stay in charge

You pick what it can reach
Choose the bands, and choose read-only or read and write. It can never do more than a Member can.
Every change is logged
Edits show up in song history under the assistant’s name, for example “Claude”. You can restore any version.
No overwrites
If a bandmate saved first, the assistant gets a conflict, not a silent overwrite. Deleted songs stay in Trash for 30 days.
Revoke in one click
It takes effect at once.

Take your library with you.

Charts are stored as plain ChordPro text, a format other tools can read. Export your whole library as a zip, with one file per song plus your setlists, whenever you like. Every role in the band can do it, including viewers. There’s also a REST API with an OpenAPI description and personal tokens you can revoke.

  • Import ChordPro files yourself, up to 100 at a time.
  • Tags and notes aren’t in the export yet.

Coming from BandHelper, or from a pile of chart files?

From BandHelper
We move your library for you. Send us your export and we bring over your songs. Setlists come too where your export includes them.
From anywhere else
Drop in your ChordPro files (up to 100 at a time), or paste charts from the web and let Taktum convert them.

You can leave any time with a zip.

Request access

It’s for you if

  • You play in a cover, party, wedding or function band.
  • You want songs, setlists and a stage view, quickly.
  • Your band uses a mix of phones, tablets and laptops, iPhone and Android.
  • You want the leader to set it up and everyone else to just open it.

It’s not for you if you need

  • PDF charts, sheet music or lead sheets.
  • Audio, backing tracks, MIDI or a metronome.
  • Gig booking, availability or payments.
  • Live co-editing, or editing without a connection.
  • A Danish interface. Taktum is in English.
  • An app-store app. Taktum is a web app you add to your home screen.

How it works

  1. Request access

When we open a spot, the band leader gets an invite email, then signs in with a password or an email link.

  2. Add songs and build the set

Paste charts, import ChordPro files, or ask your assistant. Drag songs into sets, segments and breaks. Add a venue, a time and the slot length. Invite the band by email as admin, member or viewer.

  3. Open the gig view

Open the gig view on any device. Set your capo and text size, start auto-scroll, play.

Invite-only while we build it with a few bands.

Taktum is in a pilot with a small number of bands. There’s no pricing yet, and nothing to pay today.

Questions

Is there an Android app?

Taktum isn’t an app-store app on any platform. It’s a web app, so it runs in the browser on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows and Mac, and you can add it to your home screen to open it full screen. Everyone in the band gets the same songs, setlists and gig view, whatever device they carry.

Does Taktum work without signal?

Your gigs do. Taktum keeps a copy of your setlists on each device, so the gig view opens and pages through the set with no connection, and shows when the copy was last updated. Editing, searching the whole library and changing setlists need a connection, so update the set before you leave home.

Can each player use their own capo?

Yes. Each person sets a capo or transpose per song, and Taktum shows their shapes, for example “Capo 3, shapes in E”. It’s display only, so the band chart stays in the concert key and nobody else’s view changes. Your setting is saved on your device and works without signal. Viewers can set it too.

How does auto-scroll work?

It paces the chart over the song’s length, or a scroll time you’ve saved, and gives each line time by its bar count. Repeats get longer, chord-only rows hold, and nothing moves during the intro. If the band pushes or drags, nudge it by 5 seconds. Members can save the nudge for the whole band.

Do I have to set up layouts for my phone or tablet?

No. There’s no layout editor because you don’t need one. The gig view steps the text size down until no line wraps, and refits when you rotate or resize. On a landscape tablet or laptop, a song can sit in two columns. Choose Stage or Daylight, set your text size, and play.

How do song transitions work?

You can group songs into segments and link the ones you play without a stop, with a short transition note. In the gig view the band sees “No stop, into …” with the note, and an end-of-set card shows what comes after the break. Keys and tempos stay as you wrote them. Taktum doesn’t change them.

Does Taktum use AI?

Taktum has no AI of its own. You can connect your own assistant, such as Claude, over MCP, and it can read or edit your library within the permissions you set. Every change appears in the song history and can be restored, and you can revoke the connection at any time. Chart cleanup is rule-based.

Can I move my songs in and out?

Yes. Import ChordPro files yourself, up to 100 at a time, or paste charts from the web. Export everything as a zip, with one ChordPro file per song plus your setlists. Any role can export. Tags and notes aren’t in the export yet. Coming from BandHelper? During the pilot, we move your library for you.

Who in the band can change things?

Each band has one owner, plus admins, members and viewers. The owner and admins invite people. Members can edit songs and setlists. Viewers can read songs and setlists and set their own capo, transpose and text size, but can’t change the shared charts. Every song edit is saved in history with who made it, so a mistake before a gig can be undone.

What doesn’t Taktum do?

No PDF charts or sheet music, no audio, backing tracks, MIDI or metronome, and no booking or payments. There’s no built-in AI and no live co-editing, the interface is English only, and there’s no app-store app. If you need any of those, another tool will serve you better.

How do I get access, and what does it cost?

Access is by invite while we run a pilot with a small number of bands. Request access and we’ll get back to you. There’s no pricing yet, and nothing to pay today.
